Obama the Tactless

So.  Already inserting foot in mouth, I see.  Not an unusual thing really.  I insist on doing the same at least once a day (but then mine don't make the papers).

Obama apologizes to Nancy Reagan for seance remark

Ah well, better a president who makes fun of the seances than one who practices them...

"In his 1996 book, "The Choice," Washington Post editor and writer Bob Woodward said that as first lady, Sen. Hillary Clinton had seance-like sessions at the White House during which she conversed with late first lady Eleanor Roosevelt. At the time, the White House said the sessions were not seances."

Guess I should stop before Hillary puts a hex on me.

Obama Wins, Dems Score Big

This will be my last blog post on this election because it is over... thankfully.

Obama wins, but then everyone knows that.  How could you miss all the newspeople explaining how historic this is?  Frankly, if I hear the word historic in association with Obama again I'm likely to throw my jelly doughnut at someone.  I know the newspeople think we're stupid.  Ironic, really, considering the source.

The Dems also won a stronger majority in the House and Senate.

House Dems win their biggest majority in 15 years

That means no more excuses for them.  Naturally, they are seeing this as official sanction from the voters to do whatever they darn well please.  However, it was more likely a knee jerk reaction to President Bush and Co. rather than a whole-hearted approval of the Dems.

EXIT POLLS: Storm of Voter Dissatisfaction Lifts Obama to an Historic Win

Note how they slipped the historic thing in there...  Oops.  I already ate the doughnut.  Drat.

Worst case scenario will be a self-serving round of tax-and-spend socialist-style programs from the Democrats, which could be as bad or worse than the spend-and-spend nonsense we saw from the Republicans.  Followed my more economic do-good programs of the style that helped land us in our current economic situation.  See Why I’m Still Buying.  And typically weak foreign policy.

Or not.

If we're lucky the Dems will will shift to the middle ground.  Here's hoping.

Obama to Bankrupt Coal Industry?

Hm.  I noticed a lot of blogs getting excited over this video and I was skeptical about how damaging this would actually be to Obama.  Things on both sides seem to get blown out of proportion and then when you look at them they're really nothing much.  However, this one is worrying.  Clean, green technologies are cool and should certainly be encouraged, but a large dose of reality would be nice too.  I've watched it three times now and it seems that he would like to fine the coal plants to extinction, take that money and invest it in solar and wind.  So.  What are we supposed to do in the interim?

However, I am mightily impressed with his use of the word sequester.  Boy, he seems smart-ish when he does that.

Wednesday Election Roundup

Here's the roundup.  On the positive side, it's almost over. And then we can get on with the serious business of despising whoever wins.

Obama creates an infomercial.  Oh, goodie.  Like I'm not already sick enough of the guy.

Obama Infomercial, a Closing Argument to the Everyman

Sarah Palin is the future of the Republican party?  Thrilling.  I mean, they do need an identity, but it would be nice if they didn't lean so far away from the center.

Win or Lose, Many See Palin as Future of Party

Obama has been accepting untraceable donations.
